Following are the instructions provided on the "recipes and mixing instructions" from Hene's Supply in Withee for some of their bulk food products.
Frosting Mix
1 lb mix and 1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon hot water. Beat with electric mixer
for 4 to 5 minutes or until light and fluffy.
Oatmeal Cooky Mix
2 1/2 lbs mix
3/4 cup cold water
Place mix and water in bowl, blend well. Drop on greased sheet. Bake at 375 F for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes approximately 40 three inch cookies
Cake Mixes
Yellow, white, and chocolate
Add 2 cups water to 2 pounds. Mix for two 9-inch cakes or one 9 x 13 cake.
Bake 30 minutes at 350 F.
Carrot cake mix
2 1/2 lbs mix to 1 1/4 cup water
Add 1 cup oil on low 1 minute, then on medium 2 minutes. Bake at 350 F.
Angel food cake mix
1 lb 6 oz mix to 1 cup warm water. Mix on low 1 minute, then on medium 5
minutes. Bake in 10 inch tube pan at 350 F
Pearl tapioca
Soak tapioca overnight. Drain. Mix 1 quart milk and 3/4 cup sugar. Bring to
a boil. Add 1/2 heaping cup tapioca. Cook and stir until tapioca is clear (at
least 30 minutes). Then combine 3 beaten eggs, 3/4 cup sugar, and 3/4 teaspoon

Cole slaw dressing mix
3 tablespoon mix
2 tablespoon vinegar
2 tablespoon sugar (optional
1 C mayonnaise
Mix together and let standing until flavor is absorbed, then mix with shredded cabbage.
Bulgur wheat
1 cup bulgur to 2 cups water. Boil on high heat then simmer 15 minutes.
Instant Potato Flakes
1 1/2 cup water
1 1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter
Bring to boil; remove from heat. Add 2 cups potato flakes. Stir and
let set till moisture is absorbed. Fluff lightly with fork.
Minute Rice
2/3 cups water
2 teaspoons butter
2/3 cup minute rice
salt (optional)
Bring water and salt to a boil. Add rice; cook 1 minute. Stir in butter.
White rice
(regular long cooking, not instant rice)
On the stove
In the microwave
1. In a microwave-safe 1 quart casserole dish combine.
- 1 cup white grain rice
- 2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
- 1 teaspoon salt (optional)
2. Cover and microwave on high for 5 minutes. Reduce to 50 percent power, microwave for 15 minutes or until all the water is absorbed.
Brown rice
In a heavy 2 or 3 quart saucepan bring to boil 2 cups water.
If desired add:
1 TB butter or margarine
1 teaspoon salt
Stir in 1 cup extra long grain brown rice
Gravy mixes
Turkey, pork, chicken
Mix 1/4 cup gravy mix into 2 cups water. Bring to boil while stirring.
Simmer 5 minutes.
Soup bases
Ham, beef, chicken
1 level teaspoon soup base to 1 cup boiling water.
Stir soup mixture into water or milk
Bring mixture to a boil stirring constantly.
Reduce heat and simmer partially covered stirring occasionally as directed.

Winter Day Bean Soup
2 cups Calico Bean Mix
2 teaspoons salt
2 cups diced ham or smoked sausage
1 large onion (chopped)
1 clove minced garlic
1 teaspoon chili powder
One 28-ounce can chopped tomatoes
1 to 2 tablespoons lemon juice
Soak beans overnight. Drain. Add salt and 2 quarts water and meat. Simmer 2 1/2 hours, and add rest of ingredients. Simmer for 45 minutes.
Harvest Soup Mix
8 cups water
2 cups Harvest Soup Mix
Simmer for 1 hour. Add 2 cups celery, 2 cups carrots (diced), 2 cups shredded cabbage, one 16-ounce can tomatoes, 1 pound cooked turnkey or chicken. Simmer 1 hour after adding seasoning to taste.
Hearty Soup Mix
8 cups water
1 1/2 cups Hearty Soup Mix
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
Simmer for 1 hour. Add 2 carrots (diced), 2 stalks celery, 2 cups shredded cabbage, 1 quart tomatoes, and 1 pound ground beef. Simmer 20 minutes.
