  1. Mary Holmes bca 1830 in Ireland, married James W.Coulter (One source says James was born in Madison County, New York, another says Ireland bca 1837.  Some records show James William Coulter and others William James Coulter.). Mary died in 1906 at Troy Center and is buried at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery. James enlisted during the end of the Civil War and died of typhoid at Helena, Arkansas on April 12, 1863 (his residence at the time of his death was Troy, Wisconsin).  Mary Holmes Coulter is believed to be a close relative, perhaps a sister, to William Holmes who married Anna O'Brien.

    2. Benjamin Coulter bca 1859 in Wisconsin, died March 23, 1932.  Resident of Troy Center for many years.  1910 census Troy shows Benjamin 51, single, Annie Cavanah, niece, 18, domestic, Wis-Wis-Wis and Jeremiah Holmes, 37, boarder, single, Wis-Wis-Wis

  1. William Holmes m Anna O'Brien, both born Ireland. William was born anywhere from 1816 to 1828 in K.C., Ireland. He died September 20, 1884 at Darien, Walworth County, Wisconsin and is buried at St. Andrews. Anna O'Brien was born between 1818 and 1828, she died in 1887. NOTES: I believe William had a sister, Mary Holmes (she married James Coulter). Mary's line is listed in the section above in italics because I cannot prove she is his sister, she might be an aunt, cousin, etc. If K.C. stands for King's County in Ireland, then that county was renamed Offaly. One of the Darien censuses gives the surname as Holms.
