January 2, 1946
Mrs. Harry Sorenson, former East Troy residence now living at Irvington-on-Hudson, New York.  (my note:  Irvington-on-Hudson is in Westchester county, New York)

Troy:  The W. Grunewald kids who were on sick list now recovering
Troy:  Mr. and Mrs. Frank Huth, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Branfort went to Mrs. Edna Holmes for New Years.
Walworth:  Mention of Mr. and Mrs. Art Deist and Mary Lou
Guests at Mrs. Lena Deist and Florence Deist were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Deist and Mr. and Mrs. Adolph March and Ellen, all of Waukesha.
Christmas guests at Mr. and Mrs. Art Deist and family were Edith Farrell, Milwaukee, Dr. Justin Farrell and family of Lake Mills, Howard Bernan, and Roy Deist.
Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Deist, Mary Lou, Jack, and Jim and Roy Deist spent Christmas with Herb Sterman's.

February 13, 1946
Mrs. Elizabeth Grunewald died at her home in German Settlement last Sunday.  Mother of eight children, seven whom survive.  Age 78.  From February 16, 1921 (25 years ago) issue.

February 20, 1946
In the 25 years ago section for February 23, 1921:  Mrs. Martha Holmes Stewart, 90, died at home of her daughter, Mrs. Martha Chafin, Chicago.  One sone, Charles Stewart, and above son survive her.  Oak Ridge cemetery.

March 6, 1946
In the 25 years ago section for March 2, 1921:  Miss Frieda Deist, daughther of Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Deist, Los Angeles, California, married to Carl Springer at that city a few days ago.  Frieda spent girlhood here.

July 3, 1946
Married:  A. H. Deist and Fay Smith of Dallas, Texas.  Married at Elkhorn June 29 by Judge Luce.  Will live in East Troy area?

August 6, 1906
In the 40 years ago section:  Barn burns at W. T. Atkinson's; house saved in Troy.

August 7, 1946
Helen Shields dies July 30 at St. Paul, Minnesota.  Wife of Glen Shields of St. Paul, age 40.  Two sons, Gerald H. and Gene A., daughter Kathleen L., two stepchildren, Mrs. Betty Hartfel and Donald Shields, Troy Center, and two grandchildren.  Attending funeral were Mrs. Geo. Shilds, Mrs. Marion Ottow, Mrs. Roy Becker, and Mr and Mrs. Wm. Hartfel on Friday.  They returned home Saturday with Kathleen Shields accompanying them to spend an indefinite time.  Also attending:  Mr. and Mrs. Merle Shields, Redwood Falls, Minnesota; Mrs. Clarence Enright of Hector, Minnesota.

40 years ago section, September 3, 1906:  J. Holmes, Troy Center, paid $50 each for three milch cows of Allie Atkinson.

September 4, 1946
Mrs. Lydia O'Brien, age 68, died, widow of Dr. H. N. O'Brien and mother of Attorney John N. O'Brien of Delavan, at home of Floyd Curtiss Friday night in her sleep where she was spending the summer.  Lydia Meyst was born in Milwaukee April 25, 1878 where she resided until her marriage to Dr. H. N. O'Bring, practicing physician in East Troy.   They moved to Darien in 1905 where he practiced medicine until 1936 when he retired and they moved to California.  Dr. O'Brien died in Fullerton, California September 28, 1943.  Survivors include one son, Attorney John N. O'Brien of Delavan, a daughter, Mrs. Mary Davis of Long Beach, California, four grandchildren, three half brothers; Dr. C. H. Meyst of Milwaukee, Abe and William both of California.
